Environmental Stewardship
Gasonic Instruments Inc’s environmental stewardship program is based on the personal commitment of our president, Kae Shummoogum who for the past 5 years has reduced his own environmental impact at his home, business and for his clients. Kae believes in doing the right thing for the environment without the short sightedness of financial payback. His experiences and vision are shared with his family, friends and business contacts through his environmental presentations.
Energy Conservation for us: Most of the lights at home and at the office has been retrofitted to the more energy efficient fluorescent bulbs. In a couple of areas we use the highly efficient (1 watt) LED technology bulbs for the ultimate in energy efficiency.
Energy Conservation for our customers: Gasonic Instruments has been replacing carbon monoxide systems in underground parking garages for the last 10 years to enhance the health and safety of those facilities while minimizing energy consumption up to $50 per parking stall per year.
Transportation: Based on the gasoline price forecast over 5 years ago, we have replaced our fleet of vehicles to hybrid technology and managed to minimize the recent fuel price increases. However most importantly, the hybrid vehicle technology reduces significantly the emissions of carbon dioxide and other toxic gases.
Water Conservation: A rain water retaining pond is used for watering plants and trees at kae’s residence. Water conserving appliances such as showerheads, toilet and tap aerators were installed at both the office and kae’s residence.
Recycling: At Gasonic Instruments Inc we recycle paper, metals, rechargeable and alkaline batteries.
Renewable Energy: Our office is a 100% powered by wind energy from Bullfrog Power. At kae’s residence a solar water heater and wind generator have been installed.
