ON-SITE CALIBRATION AND SERVICE

Carbon monoxide monitors were first installed in underground parkades in Calgary during the building construction boom of the 1970’s. When service or recalibration was required, sensor modules had to be sent back to the factory leaving the air in the parkade unmonitored for weeks. At the time, Gasonic's founder, Kae Shummoogum, was working for one of these gas detection firms and he realized the dangers of possible CO contamination. Kae decided that on-site calibration would be a much safer solution and decided to launch Gasonic Instruments Inc. in 1985. While most competitors in the air quality market were focused on the oil and gas sector, Gasonic Instruments Inc. was focued on serving the commercial buildings market. Within a few years, the company was servicing most of the parkades in Calgary. During this period, the requirement for additional gas detection within commercial buildings grew rapidly to include ammonia, carbon dioxide, chlorine, freons, nitrogen dioxide and many more.

During the late eighties, Gasonic conducted a comparative evaluation of several carbon monoxide sensor technologies. The results showed clearly that using a certain type of CO sensor resulted in more accurate detection eliminating false alarms thus enhancing the health and safety in parkades while saving energy. Many building owners paid for the upgrades within a year. The accurate and reliable CO sensors reduced calibration frequency requirements from four times a year to once a year. Other service providers were reluctant to introduce a technology that would impact their service department, but Gasonic forged ahead, focused on making parkades healthier by upgrading CO monitoring systems in hundreds of buildings in southern Alberta, saving them millions of dollars in wasted energy.

Regular testing and calibration of your fixed gas detection system will ensure that your equipment is performing accurately and is compliant to the latest health and safety regulations. Accurate gas monitoring system will ensure that energy is not wasted in excessive ventilation.
Take advantage of Gasonic’s hassle-free approach to gas detection maintenance:

  • We will track the testing and maintenance schedule of each of your gas detectors, and we will remind you when calibration is due.
  • A qualified, trained technician will arrived at your site in a fully equipped vehicle.
  • Testing, calibration and minor repairs will be completed on site.
  • A comprehensive report detailing the performance of each sensor and the associated auxiliary equipment such as ventilation, audible and visual remote alarms.
  • Reports will also contain recommendations and compliance to current regulations.
